with Pink Moon in my ears on the way home for a quick lunch, i realized today that i am pretty damn happy here.

my happiness does teeter on an unfortunately small number of variables, but i'm happy most of the time nonetheless, and when i'm not it usually passes quickly. friends say i sulk a bit, but that's just what i do instead of getting angry.

i did the friday dance again, but this time i got the whole class into it.

i got them started by snapping my right hand, and making them follow suit. then my left, and again they followed. then 3 snaps with the right, followed by one with the left, and they followed. once we got a rhythm going, i sped it up a bit, and stood up and danced my little jig (similar to the goofy looking thing where it looks like you're shaking two maracas, only with my index finger pointing out) to their snapping rhythm, singing only, 'it's friday, it's friday' in rhythm, and they joined in and made me a chorus. one kid started beatboxing.

some days i really, really like this job.

we're going back to that hip-hop club tonight after dinner, maybe i'll try and take some pictures.

Eat your own feces.

Go to hell.

You see, livejournal can track the ip address of anonymous journal comments. It can tell me that the posts were made from Brainerd and Eagan Public Libaries.

Hmm, I wonder who's parent and/or friend could have done such a thing?

Get a life. Read a book. Get married. Save someone. Else.

Like I said before, if you want to talk, I'll talk. Just don't go leaving messages you think other people will see on my online journal without signing your name. If the second comment wasn't you, but Nic*ahem* her friend who lives in Brainerd, I apologize.

If you want to hear the other side of the story, I'll gladly tell it. All's fair in love and war. You live in America. You probably voted for Bush, so surely you've come to terms with this.

I apologize to others for the hostility.

You remind me of that little 16-year-old at a punk show that throws something on stage, then gets called out by the audience members around him when the lead singer gets pissed off. On the bright side, at least you won't get your ass kicked. But you can still go to hell.

***edit***
Also: please make your statements more complete and interesting.

[music |talib kweli - get by]

so a shitty weekend ended up smashingly. it was great to talk to a bunch of you--i'm definitely doing that more often.

that little kick in the teeth saturday night was exactly what i needed.

i'm going to bed right now, but in short i'm feeling incredibly refreshed and excited about the rest of my time here, and i now know how i'm going to go about getting more out of my time here. i was just in a little rut, a little routine, and it's time to bust that nut open and see where the pieces scatter, and go running after them like a penguin that's been fitted with a pair of albatross wings. no longer will i merely have wings, i will use them.

i've been having really funky, nonsensical dreams lately. don't worry, drugs are nearly impossible to get in korea.

yesterday was a beautiful day and night. it felt like it was setting up a genuinely fun summer with relative strangers. before work, it was simply an hour on the sun-soaked beach.

after work, i met everyone downtown for a mini-farewell dinner for english mark, who'll be back some time late in the summer. after the best sam gup sal i've had here thus far with a funny group of about 12 waygooks, we picked up a random assortment of beer and headed back to the beach around midnight.

this beach is well lit up by the streetlights and neon signs of the surrounding busy downtown area. it's a long, wide beach, though, so you don't feel cramped by society. we sat and drank in small pods exchanging stories for a good hour or more before a soccer ball became available, and then most of us (of varying, irrelevant soccer skills and varying, irrelevant english skill) played keep away or a variation of 1/2 court basketball with the yellow lifeguard post as goal.

i've probably broken at least two toes, but i'll be fine by next thursday.

sorry, anonymous posting internet badass, anonymous posts are screened... so the general public (or at least you, no doubt checking to see if you made it to the big board) won't get to see that comment.

and this is my old journal, but i'm glad you're still fascinated enough to read.

ta ta!

ps, send me an email if you'd like to chat (aka show your name), do something honorable for once! otherwise, live and let live.

wow, it's been a while for this journal, eh?

obviously this week i've been a tidge busy.

sara is here hobbling along on crutches, in a country made for people to walk everywhere in. there will be no extended hikes to temples in the mountains for us this week. we'll probably go with mr. lee tomorrow for a few hours to gyeongju, to get a quick history lesson near an accessible temple. it will be quite sad, really, how little of korea she'll get to see. first of all, i'm working all week, and b, she can't walk very far without getting sore and tired on crutches.

it's been nice introducing her to my friends in my new life, but really, it's been great to have a real friend here every morning and every night. this weekend we'll go have some quality time on a couple of little trips, but the impending doom of her leaving again might dampen spirits at times.

my kids love her... no doubt more than me :). hopefully she'll get enough studying done today to come out and see them one more time. ok, the shower has stopped, time to go get ready for work!
